I’m all about making organizing as easy as possible. And there are times when a quick fix is the perfect solution.

Today, I’ll share a favorite (super easy) organizing trick – clever clutter coverups! Some aesthetically pleasing ways (my personal ones – not quite as fabulous – but work!) to take your clutter undercover…

My bookshelf coverup

I used inexpensive bamboo blinds and fabric to cover bookshelves. While decently enough organized behind the scenes, I still love the streamlined look this cover provides. And you can’t beat the ease or price.

Great way to make a custom closet out of simply a wall. Way less money than building one. And it can be a temporary fix – doesn’t even have to be attached to wall. source: giesendesign.com

top of my closet cover ups
At the top of my closet, I have two layers of storage: the first hold things when not in use. Behind the totes are not so attractive – but needed – plastic bins.

Each container holds something – the one on bottom: my youngest one’s collection of (real: gecko, frogs, tadpoles, guinea big, etc) animal habitat stuff … that seemed to always be on floor in this room. So I’ve just stashed in and behind this container. Anything to make my house feel a little less like the zoo that it is…

SO…. those are some tricks for covering up clutter. The TREATS?

  • Super quick
  • Inexpensive
  • Decorative
  • Temporary
  • NO ORGANIZING REQUIRED!

However, BEWARE!!!!   Quick fixes can be ideal, IF you’re not trying to TRICK YOURSELF into thinking your clutter has vanished never to return again. Just like the clutter in our heads, if we try to just ignore, that overwhelm we’re hoping to avoid will erupt. Which isn’t pretty. Trust me, I know!

But not to leave you on a scary note!  I’m getting ready to share ways I can personally help YOU if you’re wanting to clear – not just cover up – the clutter. It may be THE PERFECT GIFT for you or someone you care about. SO…. be on the lookout!

Happy Halloween – hope yours is filled with lots of treats!!!
