Don’t you love those good vibes you feel around certain people? They have that sparkle. A certain je ne sais quoi.
It’s the same way with homes. I love that amazing feeling you get when you walk in to a good vibe one.
Interesting how, just like people, it’s not all about looks. You can walk into a magazine worthy (“picture perfect”) home – that has baddddd vibes.
But bad vibes are made to be broken.
Fixing those broken things are not only doable, but necessary (see #3) in order to get more order – which brings in more zen.
Bring in that good energy
I’m all about surrounding myself with good vibes – from people and music to yoga and green juice. So, it should be no surprise I infuse a little Feng Shui into my abode.
Here are four ways you can add some of this magic into your (home OR work) place:
- Light: Bring in sunlight. Set the mood with candles. Leave on a lamp to welcome you home or string up decorative lights to make good ambiance.
- Nature: No matter what time of year, I like having open windows – even if it’s just one that’s cracked. Air from outdoors – along with the sound of chirping birds – helps bring me into my zone. Also… plants, freshly cut flowers. Get creative about bringing nature inside – and into your decor.
- Good working order: How are things working in your environment? Toss or repair broken stuff. “Broken things attract being broke or having a broken body (health issues). They are strong sources of negative energy requiring some type of work on your part. If you accumulate numerous broken items you are likely to start to feel broken,” says Debbie Bowie on Lifehack.org.
- Clutter-free: Clear that clutter. Not only is it visibly unattractive, it blocks your energy. Notice where you have clutter: on flat surfaces, floors, under beds, in closets, car, workspace, virtual space – even all that “stuff” in your mind.
“Our homes outwardly mirror our internal, emotional states. To the trained eye, your home reveals a great deal about you. If an area in your home is cluttered, for instance, you are probably experiencing confusion and blockages in the part of your life that corresponds to the cluttered section. Conversely, areas that you naturally tend to keep neat and organized show the parts of your life that are functioning smoothly. According to feng shui, by cleaning away the physical clutter you can actually clear up the confusion and disorder in your life.”
